Summer Vehicle Tips from Rob’s…
August 22, 2018
Motorists tend to drive more in the summer months between vacations, road trips, beach visits, and all the other summer fun they have planned. As you put more miles on your vehicle this summer, Rob’s Automotive & Collision Center encourages you to stay up-to-date on the maintenance to prevent a costly breakdown.
Experiencing a vehicle breakdown during the summer can cause a great deal of heartache. Therefore, we at Rob’s Automotive & Collision Center have decided to help shed some light on what you can do to avoid engine failure and what to do if you are involved in a breakdown or accident this summer.
First things first:
Regular Maintenance – Coolant and Oil
Coolant helps to regulate the temperature of the engine. Low coolant levels can lead to your engine overheating, which can cause severe engine damage including:
- Seized Pistons
- Transmission Failure
- Warped Head Gaskets
- Burst Hoses
Check your coolant level before traveling this summer to avoid a breakdown and costly engine damage. Both the coolant and thermostat should be changed every three (3) years.
Motor Oil lubricates the inner workings of the engine. Low oil levels can result in extreme friction between the moving parts of the engine, which can cause:
- Engine Failure
- Stalling/Seizure
Be sure to change your oil every 5,000 miles to prevent your engine from seizing up this summer. At Rob’s Automotive & Collision Center, we offer convenient same day maintenance and a wide range of other automotive maintenance services to keep your vehicle running smoothly.
Accident or Breakdown Things to Remember
It’s crucial that you save the number of a trusted towing and automotive & collision center in the event of an accident or breakdown, as going to an insurance “preferred” shop may not be in your best interest. Make no mistake, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT to choose the SHOP OF YOUR CHOICE, regardless of what the insurance company suggests.
- “Preferred” shops serve the insurance company, not you.
- Insurance cannot force you to use a “preferred” shop.
- Choose a reputable shop to put your vehicle back to pre accident condition in order to protect your investment.
- Your shop of choice is required to negotiate on your behalf to repair your vehicle back to manufacture standards.
Don’t let your insurance provider influence you from using an independent repair shop because you have the right to choose who you want to.
So remember…
In the unfortunate event that you are involved in an accident or your vehicle breaks down this summer, remember Rob’s Automotive & Collision Center – 215-826-9200 – for the highest-quality repairs and 24-hour towing!
